Back to Mumbai

Mumbai. The city of spirit! Back to the city after 3.5 years…
Company V gave me the opportunity to be back here…
What a first day!

Landed in Mumbai at night. Boarded a cab and connected instantly with the cab driver. He announced that he was from Jaunpur (UP). A good chat about the upcoming elections in UP followed. Good to know he keeps a track of the ground level activities via his ‘nukkad-ka-chai-wala-group’. A market researcher in me was keen to know the power of ‘word of mouth’. He dropped me at the destination where the accommodation was provided by V (in a familiar area). Vada Pav greeting me for snacks J. Post a comfortable sleep at night, got ready for the first day at V.

Booked an Uber cab for going to the office location. The cab guy came in a new car and I just thought of congratulating him for the same. He informed me that this was his first cab ride ever post associating with Uber and he was really looking forward to earn a good sum of money from his new business. I wished him all the best and moved on to the new office.

Post a mandatory documentation procedure, I was introduced to my new manager T (who was occupied in a workshop and hence would be free only evening) and a teammate A who introduced me to the rest of the team. Was good to meet some old colleagues from company N again. Didn’t get the laptop for the whole day and hence was practically jobless for the whole day. In the evening, the team decided to include me in a plan for a movie. Company V was placed 11th in India’s list of most trusted brands across all categories and the movie was one of the celebrations for the same. The multiplex team had booked a complete theatre for us. The movie was okay but the experience of screening was awesome! With a rocking team which celebrated with all the agencies and the whole internal team, this was a good experience! No laptop, Nariman point (location of the multiplex) and a premium movie screening experience – what more could I ask for ;)

It was late to return and hence, I with couple of colleagues, N and J, decided to take a local back to guesthouse (for me)/home (for them). The day ended perfectly with the local journey, an integral part of Mumbai’s commuting infrastructure.

The first day was awesome and I look forward to making this journey memorable J

Cheers!
